Edens Arrival to Hancock and Pioneer Roots in Bingham
This reminiscence recalls John and Claus Eden who left Grundy County Iowa for Bingham Township Iowa seeking land and opportunity. They broke sod, built a sod shelter, raised flax, and endured prairie wolves snakes and mosquitoes. The brothers married, built homes, faced cyclones, and farmed with neighbors in a close frontier community. Their descendants remain in Bingham, Wesley, Britt and Forest City areas, continuing pioneer heritage.

Indian Day fete marred by rain and crowds persist
Rain cooled the fifteenth annual Todlan Day in Tronka as clouds gathered and heavy showers dampened festivities. Despite a large evening crowd and a popular ball game between Texas Black Spiders and Forest City, the day yielded spoiled concessions, downed tents, and wind driven interruptions. Two airplanes offered rides, Aztec Chief Zat Zam drew crowds, and the Madden-Stillian Players impressed before wind and rain disrupted shows.
