County Farmers Urged to Check Storage Space
With a bumper corn crop in sight Kossuth county farmers should inspect grain storage and add cribs and bins for harvest. Virgil L. Rohlf county ASC manager says many have built or bought storage and more will soon. he warns a high old grain supply could push prices below loan rates, boosting demand for price support and storage expansion. Government incentives include 15 cent per bushel storage payments, reseal plans, four year four percent loans for up to 80 percent of costs, and tax-deductible storage facility costs over five years.
