Farm program would greatly aid landlords in 1949

Agricultural economist Walter W. Wilcox of Iowa State College says the new AAA program benefits landlords as much as tenants through corn price stabilization, soil conservation, and cash payments. He notes landlords gain via steadier income on crop share and livestock share leases, while cash renters face lease stability through predictable renter income and rent. He suggests using diverted acreage for non-depleting crops or soil building plantings to ease fair handling of extra land and value of any non-depleting crop.
