Fatal Wreck Near Merrill Claims Girl and Injures Two Men
A child was killed and two men injured in a runaway automobile on a steep hill south of Irma near Merrill. The car sped down the hill after brakes failed, plunging over an embankment. Margaret Elsen of Grand Rapids, Mich, was crushed to death. her father escaped injury. Barney Guerin sustained concussion and internal injuries. Leslie Willett, Rock Falls town board chair, broke his right hip while driving. Elsen was visiting Willett’s home. the group was en route to Irma to call on friends.

Madison July 11 The question of whether about 4000 Wisconsin men stationed in Mexico will be allowed to vote in the September primaries and November elections if quartered there long is under study by Attorney General Walter G Owen. An opinion had been sought from him after reception of a request from executive offices. Initial thoughts pointed to the mail voting law passed last session, but a full ruling had not yet been issued.
