Feeder cattle market mixed as prices attract debate
Cattlemen weigh wait for lower prices against buying now to avoid silage losses. Banks indicate 5 to 6 percent loans available for those in the business, with calves desired around 26 to 28 dollars and yearlings 22 to 24. Some say high quality calves may cost 32. National Livestock Feeders Association notes a softer market and lower prices over the past two weeks, especially in the Southeast, amid rising cattle offers.
