Sterenberg Clan 15th Annual Reunion Held

The Sterenberg family held its 15th annual reunion on the Saturday before Labor Day at the Waterworks Park in Morrison with 95 members and guests. Fred Stromenberg presided over the business meeting, and secretary reports noted three marriages and six births since the last gathering, plus one death Jacob Sterenberg. The 1942 officers include President Carl Bush Morrison, VP John F. Sterenberg, VP Jay Dykema, and Secretary Treasurer Mrs. Wm. Stegenga Morrison. A menu committee and sub secretaries were named for the next reunion at the same site.

Movie Star Reagan to Visit Dixon For Homecoming

Ronald Reagan the film star born in Tampico and his wife Jane Wyman will visit Dixon for a Louella Parsons Reagan homecoming day in Morrison on Monday September 15. The party will meet relatives after traveling from Hollywood California where Reagan once lived and attended Dixon High School.

Thomson Melon Day Guests and Weekend Visitors

Thomson hosted Melon Day with dinner guests including Mr and Mrs Fred Grim of Davenport and Mr and Mrs Martin Bahnsen of Clinton. Thomson High Opens Fall Term With Longtime Staff

The fall term starts Tuesday at York Community High School and Thomson Consolidated Grade School. Prof. Demaree leads the high school with about 85 students enrolled. Prof. Hemmer heads the grade school with total enrollment 110. Names of students and staff listed for both schools.

Vernon McGinty Leaves for Bridgeport Duty

Vernon McGinty departed this Thursday morning for Bridgeport Connecticut to join General Electric Co staff. Mrs McGinty will join later once housing is found. Weekend visitors to Mr and Mrs Paul Lewis included Mrs Olive Smith of Savanna and Mr and Mrs F R Stratton of Batavia. On Labor Day the Meyers family of Milledgeville called at the Lewis home.

Clarence Van Buskirk of Lanark and partner George Adolph of Chadwick showed seven Herefords at Whiteside County Fair. They won four purple ribbons two champions nine blue ribbons and three red ribbons amid keen competition.

Reports indicate York township farms are well rented with several seeking new locations. Mr. Smit of the Graharing farm near the Lower York cemetery plans to move, and Henry Hartman, currently on the Ray Dodge farm, says he also plans to relocate.

Tax rate unchanged for York Township for 1941

York Township auditors met in regular session led by Commissioner George C. Bittner who requested a 33 cent levy per $100 valuation for roads and bridges for 1941. The board granted the rate, audited road and cemetery accounts, and approved weed commissioner records noting remaining Canadian thistles.
