Carroll County Sets 710000 Target for Third War Loan Drive
Miss Vern Graves a Savanna grade school teacher defied a court order by rejecting a proposed contract from the Savanna city schools. The board had tendered a contract for the 1945 school year but Graves argued it would be unfair to taxpayers to pay two salaries and said she would consider a position in Hanover with higher pay.

Carrol County raises the Third War Loan quota to 7100000 with an aim to open sales next Thursday September 9. County bond organization members say the goal more than doubles the county’s prior drive while banks may not subscribe and individuals will bear the purchases. A county chairman candidate from Savanna with prior bond drive leadership is tentatively chosen awaiting state approval. The Morrison floral show opened Thursday and continued Friday with strong displays in flowers vegetables and table settings.
