Funeral Services for Samuel Turnbaugh Held in Chadwick

Funeral services for Samuel Turnbaugh, a Chadwick leader born August 21 1865 in Thomson Illinois, occurred Wednesday. He died August 24 1942 at his Chadwick home after months of illness. Interment was in Ghad Wick cemetery. He married Minnie Grover February 2 1888 and had five children. The obituary notes his long village involvement and devotion to God.

Tobey and son Field report a grand pear and a good onion crop east of Thomson. Six carloads shipped: one to Tampa Florida two to Mobile Alabama one to Flattieville Mississippi one to Greenville Mississippi one to Chicaze. Two track loads also hauled to Chicaze. Crop averaged about 600 bushels per acre.

Methodist Church Ladies Aid Plans Pastry Sale Event

The ladies aid met Wednesday with Mrs. Charles Beck and will meet next at Mrs. Sarah Groharing's home. A pastry sale is set for September 10. Twenty members of the Junior Department attended a party in the church basement last Friday. Games followed by refreshments. Sunday services include preaching at 9 30 am and Sunday school at 10 30 am.

Miss Hilda Irene Pape and Hubert Williams wed in a single ring ceremony at the Aledo Methodist church parsonage on Wednesday afternoon August 24. York Consolidated to Open Monday as Labor Day Week Begins

Lawrence Stein Elected President of Reunion Group

Lawrence Stein was elected president of the Stein Reunion Group at the seventh annual meeting at Water Works Park Morrison Saturday. Frederick Getz of Mt Carroll was chosen vice president and Harry Ocken of Sterling was elected secretary and treasurer. The gathering noted one death, one birth, two marriages, and five members graduating from the fifth grade. Committee appointments were made for the 1933 picnic in Lawrence Park Sterling with details of refreshments and program.
