A new minister Rev Schaick was invited to the church basement on Friday evening where members organized a modest social. The gathering featured greetings from congregants and a donation of food packages to help provide a fine meal.
Frontier Days at the stock yards attracted a crowd last Saturday with real Western riding. A carload of horses was sold at a modest average, with farmers likely securing bargains. Abel Martindale was born in Bedford Canada in 1832 and moved with his parents to White Side county Illinois in 1855. He settled on land later owned by Clint Waite, moved to Sauk County Wisconsin in 1867, retired to Thompson at age twenty, and lived twice married with three children from each union. Fifteen years ago he went to Independence Iowa to live with his oldest daughter Alzina Ranolds, where he died October 20, 1824, at age 92 years 2 days.
