Burlington wreck disrupts trains and repairs planned
A freight train derailed on the Argo-Fa Mt Carroll road near the John Nicklas farm at 12146 o'clock. Eleven cars left the viaduct sixty feet high, destroying ties and rails. one car with Auburn automobiles plunged into the creek. Detours were used while crews from Milwaukee, Aurora, and Moline rebuilt the roadbed, and trains resumed regular service after a day.

About 358 fathers attended the annual Dad's Day celebration at Iowa University last weekend. Eight states were represented by the fathers: Illinois, Kansas, Wisconsin, South Dakota, California, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Minnesota. A permanent organization of dads was formed at the Saturday banquet to improve Dad's Day, now in its sixth year.
