Spring Vally Waffle Supper Draws Crowd at church

A Spring Valley Presbyterian Waffle Supper drew a large turnout Friday evening. Funds totaled 36 dollars. The Ladies of the church plan an annual baganr and chicken pie supper on November 15. Community notices include visits by local residents and club meetings in Prairie Center and Union Grove areas.

New Physician Bowen Leads Savanna Medical Field

Dr. W. S. Bowen, formerly of Calamaus, arrives in Savanna as successor to Dr. Maloney. He brings thirteen years of Clinton county practice and three postgraduate courses in infant feeding and children's diseases from Chicago hospitals. He previously served on Davenport Hospital staff and specializes in children's diseases. Burlington wreck disrupts trains and repairs planned

A freight train derailed on the Argo-Fa Mt Carroll road near the John Nicklas farm at 12146 o'clock. Eleven cars left the viaduct sixty feet high, destroying ties and rails. one car with Auburn automobiles plunged into the creek. Detours were used while crews from Milwaukee, Aurora, and Moline rebuilt the roadbed, and trains resumed regular service after a day.

Dad’s Day at Iowa City forms fathers group at banquet

About 358 fathers attended the annual Dad's Day celebration at Iowa University last weekend. Eight states were represented by the fathers: Illinois, Kansas, Wisconsin, South Dakota, California, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Minnesota. A permanent organization of dads was formed at the Saturday banquet to improve Dad's Day, now in its sixth year.
