Report On Girl Scout Camps Of Past Year

The Jane Addams Council of Girl Scouts led by Mrs. Wm. T. Bingham released camping statistics. Of 105 troops, 75 participated. 36 of 48 Intermediate Troops sent campers to Camp Hideaway for July and August sessions limited to 48 girls per session. Camps at Mt. Carroll, Dixon, Prophetstown and Camp Hideaway near Freeport. four June day camps with 825 Brownies and 53 Intermediates. 98 volunteer day camp staff. Senior Scouts sent a primitive camp team of 8& girls to Region VII at Camp McCormick near Byron. Winter overnights at Hideaway noted. Carroll Rural Youth Changes Meeting Date for October Session

Mt Carroll notices the Carroll County Rural Youth meeting moved from October 11 to October 18 to avoid clashing with the Dixon district meeting. Dixon hosts a talk fest officer elections talent fund winners recreation and refreshments. Transportation will be provided to Dixon. The Rural Youth Cider Ball is set for October 30 at farm bureau hall with rural youth and nearby counties invited.

Seger Heads Carroll County Teachers Group

John A. Seger principal of Thomson grade school was elected president of the Carroll County Education Association at a Savanna meeting. He succeeds Fred Hubbell of Mt. Carroll. Perry Rockwell and Esther Schmaling were named vice president and secretary respectively, with Ralph Lyerla as treasurer. The session included slides of the Rose Bowl parade and Savanna-area scenes.
