Women of Carroll federation convene in Savanna meet

Members from 13 clubs across three counties attended the Carroll County Federation of Women's Clubs convention in Savanna. The program featured a luncheon by the Mt Carroll Methodist Church, a talk on Modern Voting Methods with an automatic voting machine demonstration, and performances by the Chadwick Trio and Stockton club chorus. The spring meeting is likely to be held in Mt Carroll.

New Type Buses in Service on Northwestern Line

Five of the new pusher type buses are set for service on the through highways. The Lincoin Highway test run last week preceded an order for 58 to replace older vehicles. The rear engine promises quieter operation and reduced fumes. Duralumin construction adds strength and cuts weight by about two tons. Buses feature side compartments for storage and smoother ride.

Scouts Plan Camp Trip October 10 11

The U S Grant Council will run a two day Camporee at Canyon Camp in Jo Daviess County on Oct 10 and 11. About 15 troops from six counties are expected. Each troop provides its own tents cooking gear and supplies and campers bring meals. Activities include craft demonstrations camping meal prep and campfires with religious services planned.

Lyons Speech Cancelled by Rain in Savanna

Larceny Charge Against Colored Youth Dismissed

A colored youth named Allen Jett faced a larceny charge in the court of Frank Schrespori at Mt Carmo Justice of the Peace. The case was dismissed Tuesday morning for lack of evidence after clothing belonging to Panic Rad ford and Walter Eyes disappeared on July 9 and were traced to the Camp Carrell CC. Camp officials notified Cook County authorities and the youth was held four days in the Cook County jail until brought.
