Class Donates New Bulletin Board for School Hall
The Class of 1969 donated a new bulletin board placed in the hallway between the cafeteria and gymnasium. It features an aluminum frame with glass doors and two sections, one cork bulletin area and the other for letters and announcements to show the latest events in the system.
Thomson Educ Center Plan Revealed for Old High School
Howard L Kennedy of the Thomson CUSD unveiled a plan to convert the vacant east Thomson High building into an Outdoor Education Center. The project would house dorms for 80 students, classrooms, labs, a cafeteria and more, with renovations estimated at 209000 to 300000 funded publicly. The center would serve Northwestern Illinois and nearby Iowa, using state and federal funds with eventual value over a million dollars.

The Thomson PTA sponsors an anti narcotics program Wednesday at 8 p m in the school cafeteria. Dr Lyle Rachuy of Stockton Illinois will present statistics on drug use and addiction to inform residents. Superintendent Kennedy hopes to show an introductory film for students an hour before the meeting if available.

Illinois Adopts SMV Emblem For Slow Vehicles On Highways
Illinois law now recognizes the SMV emblem for farm and maintenance vehicles on public roads. Governor Ogilvie signed HB 415, allowing use on farm tractors, self propelled implements, road equipment, and horse drawn vehicles operating at 25 mph or less. The emblem, adopted from ASAE in 1966, is a 16 by 14 inch red orange triangle mounted on the rear and must not be misused on driveways or trucks. other warning devices remain required. O. L. Hogsett urges farmers to display it and motorists to slow when approaching.
