Sgt John R Thompson of Savanna UK attended the Seventh Army NCO Academy fifth anniversary in Munich Germany as a former honor graduate. He topped 167 graduates and was hosted by West German and French officials. Thompson, home Clinton IA, serves with Headquarters Battery, 816th Field Artillery in Darmstadt. He came to Europe in March and is a 1945 Sabula Inw ith school graduate. He wears the National Defense Service Ribbon World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Ribbon before re enlisting in September 1953.

Couple Injured As Auto Rams Truck on Route 80
Mr and Mrs John Dale both 52 of New Bedford were injured last Thursday afternoon when their car rear ended a gravel truck a mile south of Savanna on Route 80. They were taken to Savanna hospital with non serious injuries. The gravel truck driver Frank Provant Jr of Savanna was not hurt. Tess Mr and Mrs Curtis Naniga visited Ralph Anderson in Stockton on Sunday.

Four Men Draw Sentences In County Court
Four men in Carroll County were fined or jailed after court appearances before Judge Charles F. Kinney. Gilbert Spencer and Kenneth Steen, both of Mt. Carroll, received $200 fines plus costs for drunken driving and related counts. Steen also faced a $200 fine for leaving the scene of an accident. Lyle Thulen of Savanna was fined $200 and costs for reckless driving after pleading guilty to deliberately ramming a car on a gravel road north of Savanna. Ralph Frederick of Mt. Carroll was charged with drunken driving following a Highway 64 collision with a pickup near Mt. Carroll. No injuries were reported.

Divorced Woman Granted in Carroll County Circuit Court
A divorce was granted Friday in Carroll County circuit court, Margy Buikema from Jay Buikema of Milledgeville. Four men indicted last week faced arraignment. Mullen pleaded guilty to burglary and larceny and seeks probation, others received time to file motions or enter pleas. Additional matters include property transfers and land descriptions in several deeds recorded for Savanna, York, and Washington townships.

DAR Chapter Meets in Savanna at Radke Hotel
Carroll Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met on November 20 in the Green Room at the Radke Hotel Savanna Illinois. Hostesses were Mrs J C Wittenberger Mrs W W Shipley Mrs Donald S Wolfe and Mrs Wallace Wolfe. Shipley and Wolfe were elected as alternate delegates to the State and National meetings in Chicago and Washington DC in March and April respectively. Col L A Burbank of Savanna Ordnance Depot spoke on Bavaria and Ludwig II with slides. Next meeting will be in Lanark April 30 1955 with DAR good citizen girls as guests and pins awarded. County Delegates Attend IAA Meet in Chicago
Five Carroll County farm bureau delegates joined the 40th Illinois Agricultural Association annual meeting in Chicago last week. Emerson Iske and others reported a record state membership of 201 035 families, with Harold Manning receiving an award for outstanding county work. Charles Shuman was re elected to a 10th one year term as president while Earle Johnson of Huntley and Forrest Robbins of Amboy joined the board. The delegates voted down a dues increase from five to seven dollars per year, effective 1955 and 1957 respectively.
