Morrison P T A hears Loren Young on challenging curriculum

Loren Young of Morrison spoke to the Thom son Parents Teachers Association on November 10 in the high school gym. His talk titled Challenging Curriculum Makes Stronger Schools drew attention. Special music by fifth grade, with teachers Anna Greeley Gene Marken and music instructor Harold Hockman, followed by Pledge of Allegiance by Legion Auxiliary members. The PTA carnival was postponed to December 1, chaired by Duane Peacock. Hostesses included Mrs. Lowell Allen and others.

Burial Services Held Friday For Mrs Rose Kehring

Burial services were held Friday at 10 am in Lower York Cemetery for Mrs. Rose Kehring who died last Sunday evening. Funeral services had been held Wednesday but were postponed due to a daughter arriving from Germany. Neighbors gathered at the Burnie Voss farm on Wednesday to finish corn picking for Mr. Voss who broke his leg in an accident at home last Thursday. The Sick Mrs Harold Brown was dismissed Thursday from Savanna Hospital after a two day stay. Mrs Martin Brinkman was dismissed to home in Savanna after a surgical stay last week. Mrs Gilpin Stagg discharged from Mercy Hospital Clinton after a ten day medical stay. Marie Vian daughter of Mr and Mrs James Vian underwent tonsillectomy last Thursday at Savanna Hospital and was dismissed Friday. Burnie Voss broke his right leg stepping from a tractor to a furrow. cast set at Morrison Hospital and he returned home Sunday. Delores Burkema sprained ankle last Friday. Harold Starr resumed bus driving duties after a week at home. Miss Elsie Tousley sprained ankle. x rays showed no obvious fracture. Mrs Eugene Bull of Savanne returned home Saturday from Mayo Clinic Rochester where she was a patient for two weeks. Glen Sears returned home Saturday from Iowa City Veterans Hospital after eye surgery several weeks ago.

The Thomson P T A announced plans for its annual carnival to be held Saturday evening December 3 at 6 30 p m in the high school gymnasium. Community Visitors Share Weekend Across Towns

Lanark and Fulton residents toured relatives and friends over the weekend in several towns. Visits included Mrs. Maude Brown in Lanark with Clara Gholson at Shannon nursing home, Gerald and Dorothy Reimers in Chicago, and families of Decker, Brown, and Toepfer sharing time in Fulton and Mt. Carroll. A nurse student Dina Durward spent time with Dubuque area parents while Earl Ellis’s farm help in Andalusia and a Beloit pastor’s visit were noted.
