A surprise retirement party honored Clem Hoy of Thomson on his last work day, October 20, at the Milwaukee depot in Moline Illinois. About 20 coworkers attended, sharing cake and coffee. Hoy plans to spend retirement hunting fishing and trapping, and he and wife have five children.

Rolland Brooks Former Teacher Dies in Iowa City
Rolland Brooks a former Galesburg resident and eight year Thomson schools teacher died Monday in a Veteran's hospital in Iowa City after a lingering illness. His last assignment was at Roosevelt Military Academy until December 1966. Funeral services were held in Aledo and burial was in Galesburg.

Diehls Involved In Auto Accident in Clinton Iowa
Mr and Mrs Harry Diehl of Thomson escaped serious injury after a three vehicle crash at the intersection of 14th Ave N and 3rd St in Clinton Iowa. Darwin H Arey and Leo E Baldwin, both of Clinton, were the other drivers. Mrs Diehl was treated at Mercy hospital for an ankle injury and head bump overnight. Baldwin and Arey received tickets for stop sign violations with Baldwin’s charge later dismissed and Arey given 30 days suspended on restitution and a $10 fine and costs.
