Babson Park Massachusetts November 8. The vice president of Newton Waltham Bank and Trust reports on real estate and farming markets. He notes demand for small houses 8000 to 12000 dollars but large and new homes soften with prices down 20 percent in places.
The Carroll County Tuberculin Testing program for 1946 included all high school students and staff in daily contact with children. Of 569 tested, 62 were positive reactors and 507 negative. those with positives will be X-rayed. Individual town totals: Thomson 58 tested, 7 positive. Chadwick 62 tested, 3 positive. Milledgeville 42 tested, 8 positive. Lanark 125 tested, 19 positive. Shannon 36 tested, 0 positive. Savanna 179 tested, 12 positive. Mr. Carroll 67 tested, 13 positive. Miss Maryhe Grayless, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Grayless, wed Merle Welch at the Latter Day Saints church in Chestnut Park Savanna with attendants Gladys Platt and William Plattenberg. They will live in Savanna after a Chicago wedding trip. Also, Miss Corrine Dotzel and Raymond Clifton Jr. were married in Dubuque in a single ring service with attendants Helene Haven and Fay Grayless. Corrine is a Scales Mound native and nurse. Clifton is Savanna born and a Navy veteran now in local business.
Mrs F W Hughes traveled to Mill Edgeville on Saturday and attended the Sunday afternoon funeral of Mrs Martha Fleming a longtime teacher who inspired her former pupil Mrs Herman Aude Sr and family. Mrs Louis Weber visited Mr and Mrs Joe Weber Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Fred Boelkins and Mr and Mrs Clarence Boelkins called on James Stuart of Morrison Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Richard Heybeck of Elgin and Mr and Mrs D L Plumer of Naperville visited Sunday at the H E Zugschw erdt home.
State Auditor Arthur C. Leuder reports October old age pension payments totaling 4,665,556 and Aid to Dependent Children disbursements of 1,651,701. Counties show Carroll 280 pension recipients $9,180 and 48 ADC for 1,235. Whiteside 749 pension recipients 27,072 and 295 ADC 3,011.
Elsie Bell Miller born December 7, 1888 in Washington township, married to Lewis Winston of Savanna. Survived by husband, two sons Herbert of Savanna and Edward of Corpus Christi, sisters and brothers. Died of heart attack at 1:30 a m Tuesday. funeral at Presbyterian church, time to be announced. Body at family home.

Carroll county supervisors met at the courthouse on Tuesday to approve payments for the general election on Nov 5 and handle other matters. The board urged state lawmakers to sponsor tax levy legislation for poliomyelitis victims and designated farm committee members to attend the Illinois Welfare association conference in Peoria. O H Bleyer Elmer Zurschwerdt and Lee Shaver named. A meeting of tax levy representatives will be called soon to discuss new one hundred percent valuation rules. date to be announced. Next meeting set for Dec 10.
Daniel Nipe 83 known as Mr Cerroll died Sunday at 10 in Clinton hospital after two weeks as a patient. Born Feb 14 1863 near Sevanna he lived in Carrell county his whole life. Survived by son Fred of Arco Pa Community. preceded in death by wife Emmis Wilson. Funeral at Argola Methodist Church with Rev Darrell Draps. Burial in Usper York cemetery.
Vernon Hohnadel, recently Ogle County Farm Bureau organizer, becomes director of a new county wide dairy program launched by Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He plans to move his family to Morrison once housing is found. Born in Carroll county, he is a Mt. Morris College graduate and spent 15 years with Carnation Milk, including managing a Gratiot plant.
Hadtey 73, native of Ageo Fa Thomson area, died in Los Angeles Nov 3 after surgery. Funeral services held in Los Angeles and cremation followed. Ashes shipped to Fuller Funeral Savanna and burial in Lower York cemetery. Survived by two brothers Towell Vale Ore and John Burt Idaho. preceded by his parents and two sisters. Remaining survivors include James Vinson City Ill and Bayond Freeport IN, plus one daughter Judith Ann, two sisters Mrs John Zier and Mrs John Linker Lanark, two brothers Mr Sanburn Indiana and Robert Lanark, plus several nieces and nephews.
President Truman lifted all price controls Saturday night except for rents sugar and rice and thereby removed wage controls as well as price controls. Priorities on building materials remain. Prices jumped on many items while others showed little immediate effect.

Burnie Maley of Chicago dropped in the Review office Saturday announcing plans to stay until Sunday evening to visit local friends. He attended the wedding of Joseph Isenhart at Savanna Saturday morning. A program and auction are set for Thursday night November 14 at Pair Haven Center school.
A Chadwick veteran died instantly in a two vehicle collision early Tuesday. The report notes the fatal accident occurred near Mt. Carroll as details were released by local authorities. The advisory committee chair, RE. D. Bray, announced a Carroll County Public Aid Advisory meeting for 7:30 Thursday evening November 21 at the public welfare office in Mt. Carroll.
Illinois federation clubs push a cottage project at Michael for Trail Rangers of America. Rev. George M. Link, founder of the home, says nature helps delinquent boys. Dixon club hosts an open meeting to hear details on November 23 at 2 PM.
Don Coble of Chadwick plays B flat clarinet in the University of Illinois 175 piece football band. The band, part of the concert and regimental ensembles, conducts about 500 formations and over 30 musical numbers each season with two weekly rehearsals. The director is Mark H. Haind sley, under Prof. A A. Harding. The group performs the season closer at Memorial Stadium on Dad's Day, November 16.
Mrs Paul Waters of Postville Iowa visited Wednesday with her aunt Mrs F W Hughes and called on members of the Wm Handel and Rey Queckboerner families, returning home Friday. Mr and Mrs Herman Aude Sr and family hosted Sunday calls from Herman Aude Jr and family. Alfred Kettleson and children of Sabula and Harry Fanger of Bryant Ia were Sunday dinner guests of the Audes. Edward Aude and Barbara Ann also joined Sunday dinner with the Aude Sr family. Sunday and Monday guests of Harry Blakeslee were Lloyd Brown of Waterloo.
World War II veteran Donald Schleming 23 of Chadwick was killed when the Chevrolet coach he rode in with Harold Stoner 27 crashed into a tree beside Route 80 at Chestnut Park Savanna. Stoner was severely injured and hospitalized. Coroner ruled the death an accident caused by the crash with no liquor observed on the driver.
Mr and Mrs George Adolph Jr and son spent Sunday at George Adolph Senior's Sterling home. Maude Alexander Orion Alexander and grandson Richard Tomman called on Ernest Brown in Milledgeville. Carol Anderson of Chicago visited parents Ralph and Mrs Anderson. Ralph Anderson hosted M E Spencer and family Geo Petersons and Carol Anderson of Chicago. Bert Nelson and Wilson Stone with son Allen of Morrison joined Harry Blakeslee for Sunday dinner.
