Savanna Faces Court Test Over Truck License Fee

Five hurt in Savanna head on crash near Clinton Iowa
Five people suffered serious injuries in a head on collision seven miles west of Clinton Iowa on Highway 67. Savanna residents Sylvester and David McWorthy were injured along with Thomas Young of Savanna and Mr and Mrs Julius C Stoecks of Fullerton California. The McWorthys and Young were hospitalised with multiple injuries including a broken elbow, fractured jaw, neck fracture potential, and knee cap fracture.

State Awards Contracts For Two Highways In Illinois
The Illinois division of highways announced awards totaling 129026 for two highway projects in Ogle and Whiteside counties. Rein and Dahl of Stoughton Wisconsin won a 51445 contract for gravel surfacing on state aid route 7 from route 26 to Pole west and to the Carroll county line at Hazelhurst east. Eric Roland er of Libertyville won a 77579 contract to build two miles of 18 foot concrete pavement on state aid route 8 from Coleta east to route 88 south of Milledgeville.

The A. J. Miles stable trains four horses at the old fairgrounds under Darrell Holman. Plans call for racing in Wisconsin by mid July at Plateville Darlington and Monroe before possibly moving to Illinois. Three Sunday crashes damage six autos near Savanna
Six cars were damaged in three early Sunday crashes near Savanna. Elmer Frederick and Laverne Mischnick of Savanna sideswiped on Highway 64. Ned Moore of Savanna collided with a Clinton IA car at Washington and Third streets. A head on collision north of Savanna involved a Murphy and a Jones from the Savanna Ordnance depot. No injuries were reported.
