The Thomson Community Unit School Alum ni reunion plans include honoring the 1917 and 1942 classes at a May 27 banquet in the school gym. Invitations went to over 600 alumni. FHA girls will serve dinner, Jack Busch and his orchestra provide music, and both classes will be recognized during the program.

Durward Herd Granted Exclusive Prefix For Holsteins
Clifford L and Norma Durward of Thomson Illinois receive exclusive use of the prefix Durelan for all registered Holstein dairy animals bred in their herd. The HolsteinFriesian Association of America has approved the prefix, which appears in breed records at the national headquarters in Brattleboro Vermont. More than 2 500 prefixes are reserved annually and over 46 000 are on file. The prefix acts as a trade mark in all published performance data for their cattle.

School Board Hires Teacher For Social Studies
Funeral services were held for Russell Ward of Savanna who died Friday after a short illness. He was president of the Savanna Building and Loan and survived by wife Jeanne and two daughters. The Savanna school board met and offered Susan Key a social studies post in Thomson for next year, with Grace Abbott duplicating remedial reading duties. The board also discussed bus driver contracts, instrument rental policies, and approved $3,000 in Title 1 funds for language, science, English, reading, math, and social studies instruction, with a 39 to 49 percent federal reimbursement. Additional actions included paying tuition for two Thomson students, approving ball diamond repairs, and exploring a tornado warning link to civil defense.
