Ray Westfall, commander of the county Legion Council, reports six post membership totals in Carroll County at 283 for the present year, just 14 below 1936. Savanna and Mt Carroll exceed last year’s totals, with Savanna 135, Mt Carroll 63, Milledgeville 24, Lanark 30, Shannon 16, Chadwick 15. The next county council meeting, with Rev. H Rendall of Morrison as speaker, is set for Milledgeville on Monday evening May 24.

Savanna Teen Hit by Car Causes Minor Injuries
J H Stoider, 43, of Savanna, suffered minor facial and leg injuries after being struck by a Ford coupe driven by Kenneth Wood near Mt. Carroll. Stoider was crossing Mundison Street at Main when knocked down. Wood, traveling south on Main, turned east on Madison. he cited rain reducing visibility and said he did not see Stoider in time.

F J Stransky a Carroll county farmer and stockman led a Chicago market shipment of 28 Hereford heads averaging 1161 pounds selling at 14.00 per cwt. Judge Stransky from Savanna bought these feeders. On the same day William Puterbaugh of Lanark sold 852 pound heifers at 11.10 per cwt with farm manager Martin.

County farmers to receive over one hundred thousand dollars

Farm youth hurt in auto crash Sunday
Charles Noble 22, son of Mr and Mrs Noble of near Savanna, was injured when his Chrysler coupe left Route 78 north of St Carroll. A tire blew on the lead car, Noble braked hard, lost control, and the car tipped into water. He was unconscious briefly, treated at Savanna hospital, then discharged Monday. Raymond and Earl Curboy helped free him. the Curboy brothers had minor bruises. All men work on local farms in Pleasant Valley area.
