Carroll Track Team Tops Stockton In Dual Meet
Mt Carroll high school defeated Stockton 56 to 52 in a year opening track dual meet at Mt Carroll. Winners across events include Vanderheyden and Grove for MT, Wilcox and Kesler for Stockton, with standouts Paisley Eisenbise and Kuhleman among MC performers. Final events featured 880 yard relay won by Mt Carroll in 1 26.5 using Grove Kuhleman and Wilcox.

Savanna Fire Department Responds to Three Weekend Calls
Three weekend fires were battled by Savanna firefighters none of which proved serious. At 4 40 p m Saturday sparks from a chimney at Frank Withhart Mulberry street ignited shingles a five gallon pump tank of water was used causing about 2 in damage. On Sunday at 6 10 p m Earl Solt East Beach street Model A Ford fire blamed on faulty wiring was brought under control with minimal chemical aid and slight damage. About 9 a m Monday a roof fire at Ray Moore East Savanna caused about 2 damage from chimney sparks.

Thomson and Pearl City bands earned first division ratings in Class CC at the Illinois school band contest in LaSalle. Shannon and Cordova placed in the second division. Lanark, Mt. Morris, Polo and Warren in Class 6 third division. Chilliothe, Waterman and Eureka earned first division in Class 6. Forreston and Tiskilwa were in second division. Lanark girls chorus and mixed chorus won first division in Class C, boys chorus in second. Choruses and band directed by Eugene Grove. Thom son and Cordova bands led by Beth Hower. Shannon band by T. A. Kiburz.
