Carroll County primary vote results and sheriff race outcome

In Carroll County the Tuesday primary drew under 3,000 voters with 2,155 Republicans and 582 Democrats. Guy E. Neuschwanger won the GOP sheriff nomination over Hans Peter Greison Jr with 1,516 to 535 votes. Other precinct tallies include small votes for Ritenour and several party candidates across Savanna, York, Fair Haven, Wysox, and Elkhorn Grove.

Milledgeville Firemen battled eleven blazes in nine days

Milledgeville volunteer firemen fought eleven fires in nine days led by Fire Chief Ralph Gerdes. Two homes burned and three fires caused major property losses while the Donald Ebersole farm blaze south of Coleta prompted arson inquiries. The McPherson home fire destroyed a residence and contents. eight other grass fires were reported. The McPherson family seeks clothing and furniture donations as they relocate with relatives.

Drivers License Stations Extend Hours in Carroll County

Carroll County announces evening hours for its Savanna and Chadwick drivers license offices. Beginning March 18 the offices operate Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Written tests and vision tests remain available. road tests stop at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Clubs Sought to Sponsor Conservation Scholarship

Carroll County Outdoor Education committee seeks local and county groups to sponsor one high school student to attend the 1970 Conservation Workshops in Illinois. The $50 sponsor covers tuition room meals and field trips. transportation is on students. Enrollment is first come, first served with Thomson High School chosen by lot to attend.
