The Big Tigers swept three straight wins finishing Monday in the Carroll County Tournament with a 20-1 season mark. Jim Falls led scoring setting four tournament records with 75 points, a 31 point single game, and team totals of 201 and 82 in a record breaking effort alongside Falls Zink Schoening Krantz and Halfman. Coach McCrudden praised the team for collective effort.

John C. Potts of Thomson receives a 302.50 award for a suggestion that saved Savannah Army Depot 14115 in its first year. The ceremony was led by depot commander Col. W. B. Harding on February 20. Potts and Sidney Curnutt proposed combining the depot school maintenance and demilitarization courses. Potts joined the Army civilian service in 1950 and has served in several locales. he and his wife live near the Fin and Feather resort north of Thomson.
