Under Mrs. Rita Dicker of the Illinois Heart Association Carroll County Heart Committee organized June 16 in Mt. Carroll. Seven counties form the district with officers led by President Dr Karl H Reddies Savanna and a slate of directors for one to three years. Public information and community service chairs were named. next meeting set for Sept 19 at the county nurse’s office. 4-H contest winners from Mt Carroll and Milledgeville were announced with top entries advancing to state competition.
The Girl Scout day camp opened Monday at Point Park Mt Carroll with many girls attending despite rain and cool weather. Tuesday sessions were canceled due to rain, but Wednesday morning sessions resumed as the sky cleared and temperatures were expected to rise.
Mrs. Hattie Neis returns to her Mt Carroll home after a several days visit at the home of Mr and Mrs Charles Shuman. Mrs Minnie Turnbaugh traveled to Lanark last Thursday and will spend two weeks with her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Wallace Ware.

The Tour of Grand Detour, hosted by St. Luke's parish Dixon, will be held Saturday and Sunday June 25 and 26. Visitors can view century old houses including the Andrus and John Deere homes, St Peter's Church, and enjoy brochures, meal service, and a snack bar with hours from 1 to 5 p m. Overnight stays are available in Dixon and White Pines State Park.

Samuel C. Campbell, 75, former county superintendent of highways, died Saturday at his Mt. Carroll home after 40 years leading the department. He served in World War I, taught on the Mt. Carroll high school board, and held multiple local memberships. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Mt. Carroll with a brief Legion burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Lorelei Blumer wed Julio A Rocha of Tampa Florida on November 10 in Chicago. Lorelei studies music at Chicago Musical College while Julio works as a draftsman for Babcock and Wilcox in St. Petersburg. They plan to live in Chicago after Rocha completes work in Florida and Lorelei pursues further music study.
Savanna Dianna Marie Heitman and Charles Raymond Schroeder were wed at 10 a m Saturday at St John’s Catholic Church Savanna Rev Joseph Highland officiated. The Carroll County Little League and Pony League released schedules after delays. Little League games occur Tuesday and Friday evenings while Pony League games are Monday nights. Milledgeville merchants invite the public to Maxwell Street Day on Saturday June 25. A pony ride for children is sponsored by Litwiller Lumber and Grain Co. About 250 free chickens will be given away at Chicken Scrambles at 2 30 and 8 p m with merchandise certificates totaling 750 dollars attached to legs. Participating merchants urge shoppers to come prepared to bargain.

Lanark Night features Mrs Lee McCall at 8 00 p m with short topic Party favors by Mrs Loren Martz. White Eagle 4-H camp draws 68 Carroll county youths for reservations. Camp runs July 5 9 for ages 14 and up and July 18 23 for ages 10 13 with Ogle county 4-H members.
Donald Bushman of Milledgeville suffered minor injuries Friday in a crash about a half mile east of Coleta. His station wagon, traveling west, was hit on the left rear by Lloyd P. Mackey of Coleta, causing it to overturn after spinning. Mackey was westbound and attempting to pass when an eastbound car forced him to swing behind Bushman’s vehicle.
Cakes cookies breads and more will be exhibited June 29 and 30 by 160 Carroll county 4-H members at the farm bureau hall in Mt. Carroll. Judging is June 29 with demonstrations starting at 10:00 a.m. June 30. the public is invited.

Two juvenile suspects face burglary and larceny charges after recent incidents. Authorities did not release names due to age. The case moves to juvenile court proceedings as investigators compile evidence.
Carroll county grand jury indicted Wayne Henson 17 and Richard MecColley 16 on two counts of burglary and one larceny for the May 17 Savanna high school break in. Bonds set at 2000 each. Henson remanded, MecColley posted bond and case continued to June 27. They netted 15 in cash but caused extensive property damage and attempted to burn the office safe with a welding torch from the shop. Both have been in the county jail since late May after South Dakota custody.

The Carroll County 4 H Federation held a June meeting at the farm bureau hall. Members approved a July 13 swimming party at Mackay's Lake for federation members and guests and a June 29 Keeping Fit Day at Mt. Carroll Park. A July 25 Purina demonstration on grooming show calves was announced, with committees named for newsletters and refreshments and a short Civil Defense film shown after adjournment.
The Carroll County Humane Society schedules its annual members meeting for 8 p.m. Tuesday June 28 at William B. Petty's Mt. Carroll office. Officers will be elected for the coming year.
Harlan Hollowell of Milledgeville was elected chairman, Kenneth Moll of Shannon named vice chairman, and Earl Kaufman of Lanark elected secretary. The council sponsors county extension programs and plans several activities for the coming year.
Black Oak grange No. 1910 held a social meeting Thursday evening June 17 with 17 members. An auction led by auctioneer Frank Manning featured a program by the executive committee. Dairying articles were read by Oliver Olson and Arnold Farthing. Refreshments were provided by Oliver Olson William Hans and W H Montague.
