Savanna Man Acquitted in Manslaughter Case
James Canavan of Savanna was acquitted in Seward Nebraska district court of manslaughter charges. The jury deliberated 30 minutes after a death on April 27 involving Eugene Lemonds of Seward following a fight. Three Indicted in Carroll County Grand Jury Session
Carroll County grand jury returned three indictments naming Orville Mathis from Thomson for operating a vehicle under the influence, Gustave Baumgardt of Chadwick for DUI, and Herbert Tienhart of Savanna for theft of a Milwaukee railroad battery. Ohio Man Seriously Hurt In Route 64 Collision
Carroll Ohio man Leon Harvey 38 of Toledo sustained a crushing chest injury with a collapsed left lung after his car collided with a milk transport truck driven by Vale Allen 29 of Gatena on Route 64 near Mt Carroll. Allen was unharmed. Deputies and state officers investigated the crash stating Harvey crossed the curve and brushed the truck, sending his car into a ditch.
