Damage suits seek 60000 in Mt Carroll Four deaths
Four damaged suits filed in Carroll County circuit court total 60000. Plaintiffs Blaine Peck as administrator of the Warfield and Marian Warfield estates claim Frank Warfield and Marian Warfield were killed last August by a car driven by Colby D. Leochell. Howard Stoner is named in two complaints as owner of the car. Leochell is sole defendant in the other two. The suits allege Leochell drove while intoxicated at excessive speed and recklessly, with Stoner negligent in allowing Leochell to drive. Leochell is jailed on a charge awaiting the June circuit court term.

Porter and on's Brown Swiss herd of 19 cows averaged 1333 pounds milk and 51.2 fat to top Carroll County Dairy Herd Improvement Association May results. Second place went to Sikkema and Stransky with 1282 pounds milk and 48.2 fat from 82 Holsteins. Third belonged to Edwin Keim's 17 cow Brown Swiss at 1159 pounds milk and 46.5 fat. High producing cow was Tallman and Keesler's registered Holstein at 1559 pounds milk and 101.4 fat. Association average was 1012 pounds milk and 37.7 fat.
