Former Malvern Resident Dies in Pearl City

Tragic Canal Death end of note clues suicide
Herbert Peugh, 57, of Coleta, reportedly left home Monday morning saying he would see a doctor in Rock Falls. A note indicating a suicide was found in his car near a bridge. Rock Falls firemen recovered his body from the Hennepin feeder canal four miles southeast of Rock Falls on Monday afternoon. An inquest was held at 4:20 Tuesday. the body was moved to Shirk Funeral Home.

John Tempel 39 of Shannon died after his car overturned on Route 52 near Mt. Carroll. Tire marks show the vehicle left the pavement, rolled onto the left shoulder, and he was ejected, dying of a broken neck. Coroner ruled accidental death after inquest.
