Clubs Meet for County Demonstrations and Style Show
The 4H clubs of the county gather Friday July 29 at Mt Carroll High School gym for a daylong session of demonstrations and judging of members’ work. Participants bring lunch and a dish, with a noon picnic. The Laf-A-Lot Syrkle held a meeting at Avnee Ashpole’s home. Style show winners for Mt Carroll county meeting include Marie Slige, Jean Morgan, and Marriett Weatherwax. Judging and demonstration teams named, with outfits to be sent by Viola Shelly, Prudence Groharing, Lorraine Weatherwax, among others. All 4H girls and mothers invited. Lemonade and cake served.

Word reached Mrs. Aline Lewis of the death of her brother Orson E. Bailey 76 at his Garden City South Dakota home. He died in an accident but details were not available. Bailey born in York township Argo neighborhood moved to the Dakotas about 30 years ago. Survived by wife and daughter Berneice a Washington teacher. son Elijah preceded him in death. Funeral today at Garden City with interment there. Mrs Paul Lewis hosted a lawn party for Hazel and Blair Stratton of Batavia IL with old friends present.

Trials include noxious Minnesota weeds, black stem rust carrier barberry, currants, gooseberries, white pine blister rust, oak sprouts, and wild brush. It killed tall burdock with a tablespoon around bases and scrub oaks with several tablespoons. Two to four pounds per square void applied in water spray or dry form.

Funeral Services Here Today For George Infant
The infant son of Mr and Mrs Cecil George born at Mercy hospital Clinton Iowa died shortly after birth. A private funeral was held from the Ely Cochran home with George and Cochran families present except the mother and her sister Mrs Dean Boyce who were in Mercy hospital.
