From My Window The Spectator Comments On Prohibition
A fragmented editorial quotes political debates ahead of November elections. It compares party planks on prohibition and notes voters will weigh wet versus dry factions, with emphasis on economic policy and statesmanship beyond drinkability. The piece reflects on shifting support and the clash of inbetweeners across parties.
Higher Prices Gladen Hearts Of The Farmers
Farmers nearby feel a bit better as New York convention notes and hog market trends unfold. McAdoo and Roosevelt bargains shift support and Smith faces setbacks. Corn prices move slowly at 32 cents, with many farmers holding grain awaiting higher bids. Hog and cattle markets lift sentiment, though taxes and interest pressure persist. Some foresee price declines before a steadier rise later, amid seasonal political and market shifts.
