Fire School To Be Held Aug 12 At Milledgeville
Plans for a fire school to be conducted at Milledgeville Thursday, Aug. 12, by the Blackhawk Fire Fighters association have been announced. The school, sponsored by the Milledgeville and Chadwick fire departments, will be led by instructors from the state fire marshal's office at Springfield and begin at 2 p.m. A supper and evening entertainment follow. All area firemen in Carroll, Ogle, Whiteside and Lee counties are invited, including non members. Attendees are asked to wear work clothes.

Roof Blaze at Tim McKee Home Near Savanna
Savanna firefighters were called to the Tim McKee farm home one mile south of the Excelsior school near Savanna to extinguish a roof fire late Wednesday afternoon July 7. Sparks from a chimney ignited the roof and a five gallon pump tank of water was used to check the blaze. Damage was estimated at about 35 dollars.

Jack Henry Williams twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs George Williams Lanark suffered a fractured right ankle and other injuries Friday when a team of horses hitched to a loaded hayrack bolted after loose hay fell to the ground. He was taken to St Francis Hospital Freeport for treatment.

Carroll TB board details 1945 expenditures and care
The Carroll county tuberculosis board filed a report with the board of supervisors showing 27 006 85 spent on tuberculosis treatment and control for the year ending June 1 1945 with 47 060 available for continuation. Eight patients received sanatorium care and eight received pneuma and x ray treatment. As of June 1 1953 the county provides care for six persons at Ottawa Rockford and Naperville with weekly costs of 23 50 24 50 and 21 00 respectively. R G Fuller of Savanna was appointed to a three year term on the TB board.

Fifteen-Year-Old Billy Fulrath Hangs Self in Lanark
A coroner's jury ruled that 15 year old Billy Eugene Fulrath hanged himself Sunday night in the Lanark basement. The body was found by his father in a coal bin at 1 pm with a note citing a quarrel with a girlfriend as the motive. He was born December 20 1927 and survived by his parents a brother and grandmother. Funeral held at Mt. Carroll Lutheran Church burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
