Razors and Hot Water Debate Cites Standards Authority
The Bureau of Standards finds no solid basis for claims that pouring hot water on razor blades damages steel. Razors are very hard and boiling water may slightly temper some blades, but generally it would merely soften hardened steel. The effect of hot water on different steels and the blade edge remains unclear and questionable.
