In Carroll County since the 1-cent bounty on crows began April 1 1937 a total of 55.5 dollars has been paid for 555 crows. Concrete work started Wednesday morning as crews move equipment from Argo to Thomson. They will pour along the Thomson front to the north of the old tollhouse, with additional cement on Route 80 and the east side of the old concrete. Petit jurors for the June term of court were dismissed by the judge Wednesday morning after forties by a suit scheduled for trial that day settled out of court. The jury will not return during the term. Grand jurors remained in session on Wednesday.

Carroll County Farm Bureau defeated Ogle County 5 to 2 at Cook's Field on Saturday. Erdmeier pitched nine strikeouts, Frey struck out ten for Ogle, and Royer Erdmeier and Sturtevant each had two base hits as Carroll widened a tie after the sixth inning. Carroll next meets Jo Daviess on July 10 at Cook's Field seeking revenge for an earlier loss.
Officials from the Mt. Carroll CCC camp announce two farm demonstration tours on July 13 to show soil conservation methods in action. The morning trip leaves the camp at 9:30 and visits Henry Miller and Gov. Knap farms, then Henry Sweitzer. The afternoon tour at 12:30 starts at the Useun ley Farm near Mt. Carroll and visits two Whiteside county farms. Transportation by CCC trucks available for those who do not drive. Participants urged to attend either or both tours.
