Francis J. Hays of Grandview, 75, died Friday morning at his home after a long illness. He lived in the area seven years, formerly farming in Harmon North Carolina. Funeral services were held Sunday at Hunter's Fuller Memorial Chapel with Rev. W. G. Hoffman officiating. Interment followed in Oakwood Cemetery Geneseo after services in Atkinson Illinois. He was born August 25, 1884 in Bolivar Missouri. He married Mary Quinn in 1911, who died in 1950, then Ella Biddison in 1951. Surviving are his wife two sons Thomas and Truman of Hoopole Illinois two daughters Margaret Baughman of Galesburg and Cecelia Gedean of Deer Grove Illinois one sister Lucy Genung of Armworth Nebraska and one brother Richard B. Hays of Fair Play Missouri.

The Mothers March porch light campaign in Thomson last Tuesday evening raised $103. The Lions Club met at the Baptist church basement for a dinner then heard David Diehl describe his two week stay at Philmont Boy Scout camp near Cimarron New Mexico last July. He belonged to Exposition 628H Valley District Camp Grant Council explorer scouts which attended the camp. The next meeting will be a business session February 8 at the high school.
