Elmo Kent of Hanover was arrested in Savanna on larceny charges, waived examination before Justice W. G. Kent and State's Attorney John L. Brearton, and was bound over to the March grand jury. The U S coast guard announces that rivermen tow boat workers longshoremen and dock workers on the Mississippi River must carry coast guard issued identification cards to pass through the lock system during the 1942 navigation season. All pleasure craft operators and commercial fishermen will also need permits and enforcement will be strict.

Death of World War Veteran Ivan Ham in Savanna
Ivan Ham 50 a World War veteran was found dead in his Savanna home after being dead about three days. Coroner ruled heart attack. He had lived in Savanna since 1920 and was a member of the American Legion and Oak Park Christian church. Surviving are a son Lyle Ham a daughter Cleo Ham his father three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held in Fuller funeral home and burial in Meredosia Illinois.

Two Men Hurt In Crash Near Mt Carroll
