OPA Rationing Limited to Three Shoes Per Person Per Year
The office of price administration announced shoe purchases are limited to three pairs per year per person with one pair every four months via Stamp No. 17 in War Ration Book 1. All leather and rubber sole shoes are rationed except house slippers and infants shoes. Transfers within households allowed. Buckskin Saddle Horse Reunited With Mackay Farm Owner
A buckskin saddle horse that strayed from Donald Mackay farm two weeks ago was found by Jonas Nice near Morrison. The horse entered a barn, caused a small wreck, and was later returned to Mackay after the owner answered a stray ad. Mackay plans to keep the 26 year old horse at a bluegrass pasture on the western ranch.

Blackhawk Fire Fighters Chief Died After Illness
Blackhawk Fire Fighters Association president Willam B. Johnson aged 46 died Friday at Sterling hospital about an hour after transfer for treatment. Heart trouble attributed as cause after a three week illness. Funeral rites held Sunday in Sterling. Johnson had served as association president six months and previously led Northwestern Steel ice company fire department for about two years. He is survived by wife, his parents, Mrs. Adolph Burmeister of Milledgeville, half brother Harry Urumeister of Milledgeville, and brother Ed Johnson of Morris.

Fire destroys hatchery and garage in Milledgeville
