Charles M. Kingery, 78, longtime Chadwick resident, died suddenly at 2:30 a m Sunday after flu illness. He served as cashier at First National Bank in Chadwick for years and helped organize local government. Last Rites Held For Mrs Anna Weber In Chadwick

Final rites for 74 year old Mrs Anna Weber who died of a heart attack in Chadwick were held December 11. A home service at 1 45 p m preceded a 2 p m service at Hope EUB church with Rev J G Eller and Rev T R Moritz presiding. Burial followed in Chanwick cemetery. Middle States Telephone Company To Be Called

The Middle States Telephone Company of Illinois becomes the name for the former Illinois Northwestern Telephone, serving Savanna Mt Carroll Thomson and other towns. A. B. Clark of La Crosse Wisconsin notes the name change follows formal affiliating with the Middle States system. Central Telephone Company owns the property since July 1946 with headquarters in Lincoln Nebraska.

Carroll Man Dies in Hill Country Auto Crash

Earl Williamson aged 40 of Mt. Carroll died Friday afternoon when his car sped down a hill, hit a tree and plunged into a stream bank. A coroner's jury attributed death to head and chest injuries from loss of control after allegedly passing a stop sign. Williamson, on his way home from Law Hatchery, may have fallen ill. Funeral services were held Monday in Mt. Carroll with burial at Zion Cemetery. He is survived by his father, two sisters, and two brothers.

Chadwick Group Tours Swift's Chicago Meat Plant

Thirty three F F A members from Chadwick visited Swift & Company during their stay at the International Livestock Exposition. They toured the Chicago plant, the largest in Swift's nationwide network, which uses about 13 1/4 million gallons of water daily. Swift's Agricultural Research staff answered questions on the live stock meat industry and noted that over 1 000 miles separate livestock production from meat consumption. The group learned two thirds of U S livestock is produced west of the Mississippi while two thirds of meat is consumed east of the river.

Chadwick Teams Split With Freeport Heavy and Lightweight Divisions

The Chadwick grade school lightweights fell to Freeport lightweights while Chadwick heavies were defeated by Freeport heavies on Thursday night. A Chadwick squad travels to Freeport Saturday for another matchup. Mr and Mrs Alan Larem and sons Stanley and Alden visited Chicago on Saturday.

Fire destroys most of Chadwick home. two rooms saved

Firemen saved only two southwest rooms of a 13 room dwelling on the old Common farm southwest of Chadwick. Loss estimated at 8000 to 10000 dollars as flames swept through quickly, likely sparked by chimney embers. Family unaware until roof was ablaze. Morrison and Chadwick units cooperated with water from cisterns and screens cleared on the Morrison pumper.

Students and teachers plan for holidays

Students and teachers will arrive this weekend to spend the Christmas holidays in their homes. Chadwick schools will close Friday for recess and reopen January 5. Grumpy Santa Claus Play Draws Big Girl Scout Crowd

A large audience packed the school gym Saturday night to see the Intermediate Girl Scout troop perform The Grumpy Santa Claus. Proceeds totaled $26.90 to buy equipment for the troop.
