Paul R. Becker, a Carroll county farmer living southwest of Mt. Carroll, marks his 65th birthday on December 24 1954 and begins collecting a Country Life retirement policy bought fourteen years ago. He and his sons farm 340 acres specializing in hogs and dairy, with plans for more fishing travel and a month long Florida vacation next year. No Holiday Spirit Lands Two in Mt Carroll Jail
Orville Mathis and Melvin Raybon pleaded guilty to vagrancy after an incident at a Mt Carroll tavern. Each received a 60 day jail term following their arrest by Sheriff Miller last Monday night. Police Chief Hal Shrake notes five Savanna business break-ins over nine weeks with four sites left untouched.
