Carroll county entrants earned honors at the International Livestock exposition though none topped junior division. Joseph L. Rath of Savanna placed fifth in the Shorthorn 700 and under 900 lb class. Loren Martz of Lanark and others from Lanark and Savanna won finals in various divisions. Argyl stables of Mt. Carroll claimed multiple ribbons in horse shows and ponies.

Lt Col Ball of the Rock Island district US Army Engineers announced river pools from No 11 at Dubuque to No 14 at LeClaire will be lowered to winter levels one foot below normal while pools south of that point will be drained. Pools 15 at Rock Island will stay at normal level and locks remain operable as long as ice allows traffic.

Crash Injuries Prove Fatal To Mrs H Dutton
Mrs Harry Dutton 47 of South Beloit died from injuries suffered November 11 in a two route crash east of Shannon. She had a broken back and other injuries and died November 26 at St Francis hospital Freeport. Funeral services were held in Mt Carroll with burial at Oak Hill. The former Neva Klitz was born January 19 1894 in Mt Carroll. She was survived by her husband two sisters a brother two half brothers and a half sister.

The Carroll theatre building in Mt Carroll owned by the Marchesi Brothers will undergo extensive improvements soon. Front additions include two shops with a threeway entrance and a hallway leading to four new offices along the south wall. Former Carroll Resident Dies In Pearl City
W. Grimm aged 82, longtime Carroll area resident, died Saturday in Pearl City. Funeral services were held Tuesday at home and Kent United Brethren church, with burial in Kent Lutheran cemetery. He was born February 27, 1859 in Woodland township, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Grimm. He married Debbie Hockmann on December 25, 1800. Surviving are his widow, two foster children William Aurand and Minnie Champion of Lan ark, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. When a woman no longer finds it with her husband, she's a wid ow.
