George O. Hersey 95 of Lawrenceville died Saturday at Methodist Old Folks Home Savannah. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Savannah with Rev. Ernest Carder officiating and burial in Savanna Township Cemetery. Born in Bangor Maine he moved here in youth. He married Mary M. Ulster who died in 1949. A blacksmith he belonged to the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge Chadwick. Survivors: two sons Ralph Libertyville Paul Atlanta Ga a daughter Nell Roberts Lake Forest eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Survived by widow Mary Hoyer Schmidt daughter Mrs Edgar Wienken Washington DC and siblings. Mt Carroll veteran barber Arthur McClain 84 died Monday at Mt Carroll nursing home. Funeral Wednesday in Milledgeville with burial in Bethel cemetery. McClain born December 4 1875 in Hennepin married Julia Ann Miller in 1906. Survived by two sisters a niece and a nephew.

Two Men Fined After State Trooper Stop Near Lanark
Two men arrested by state troopers on the blacktop road south of Lanark were fined in justice court Friday. Andrew Fisher of Rock Falls, 42, paid 50 dollars and costs for transporting liquor with a broken seal, while Wayne El on Shore of Sterling, 29, was fined five dollars and costs for being drunk on a public highway.

Savanna Mayor Ambrose Daniels announced his resignation as a Carroll County Democratic precinct committeeman after a dispute with county Democratic chairman H. H. Holmes over praising Gov. Stratton. Army Pvt Dennis L Strauch of Chadwick arrives in Saigon as part of the Military Assistant Advisory Group and serves as a clerk typist. He entered service last April, finished basic training at Ft Leonard Wood, and is a 1959 Chadwick High School graduate aged 19. Army Pfc Archie E Schaefer of Savanna recently graduated from the 101st Airborne Division Jump School at Ft Campbell, receiving paratrooper wings after three weeks of training and five parachute jumps. He enlisted in November 1959, completed basic training at Ft Riley, and is a 1956 Savanna Community High School graduate aged 19.

Mrs. Lawrence Bruci, president of Carroll County Tuberculosis, said provisional figures from the Illinois Department of Public Health show 8,550 new active tuberculosis cases in Illinois for 1960 as of November 10, compared with 3,503 in 1959. Two cases were in Carroll County. The local association funds free chest x rays for school children and supports health education and tuberculin testing as part of its Christmas Seal Campaign.
