Judge Rules in Favor of Miss Vera Graves in Teacher Tenure Case
Judge Leon A. Zick of Carroll County circuit court ordered the Savanna board of education to renew Miss Vera Graves’s contract for 1943-1944 under the 1941 terms. The ruling confirms that teacher tenure rights after probation cannot be waived by a contract and that Graves had acquired continued service status under the Teacher Tenure Act after 1941-42. This marks the first Illinois case under the act since it took effect.
