Carroll county faculties prepare for the new school year with changes among instructors and coaches. Milledgeville High installs Langehaugh as superintendent replacing H A Hoff. new agriculture instructor Ralph Schilling joins Milledgeville. Other towns announce hires at Mt Carroll High and Savanna High, with lists for Chadwick York Lanark and Thomson schools.

The group plans the next gathering the third Sunday in August 1959.
Construction of Lanark sewage disposal plant by Clinton Engineering is complete and ready for operation once final sewer sections are installed. The underground facility, on land from Paul Saidel, features a multi compartment digestion and drying system with water removal via tiles. Heavy rainfall and underground water caused delays requiring pumping and shoring to prevent cave ins.
County Clerk Walter Watson and notaries Glenn O. Smith and Florence E. Schneider issued licenses to John N. Teeter and Marian Jeanette Mershon, both residents of Mt. Carroll, and to other Mt. Carroll couples.
Savanna votes on a bond for a community building while Whiteside County seeks to join the 15th judicial circuit reorganization. Judge Albert Manus is endorsed for a federal post by the Ogle County Bar Association amid county legal changes.
Members of the Ogle County Bar Association endorsed Cir cuit Judge A. H. Manus of Freeport for a federal judgeship in the western division of the northern Illinois district. They note Chicago judges fill the district and hearings require 150 miles travel when Freeport sessions are not held. The Freeport court convenes in April and October. The resolution was signed by County Judge Martin H. Eakle of Forreston, president of the Ogle bar association.
The 68th Whiteside County Fair at Morrison runs August 30 to September 2 with entry lists exceeding last year. Premiums total $10,000 for speed events, including harness and two running races, plus a third annual horse show on September 2. The Merry-Go-Round Revue and other acts headline nightly entertainment, with Tiny Hill and his radio orchestra providing music for dancing at the Band Box.
The roundup on Friday expects 400 or more entries from 4-H boys and girls. Organizers call for participation across clubs, with judging and displays planned at the fairgrounds.

Six divisional champions compete with eight games on Illinois Field, including preliminary and final consolation matches. Fans clashed during Bond versus Fayette as they battled for the division lead, and a hospital visit followed the brawl.
