Four Lanark Young Men Injured In Auto Crash

Harold Wilson, Walter Ronk, Hadley Moore and Carl Harmon of Lanark were injured when their Chevrolet sport coupe crashed into a telephone pole and guard rail on a sharp Savanna curve early Sunday. Carl Harmon suffered a broken collar bone and fractured skull, Harold Wilson a broken nose, Ronk serious facial cuts, and Moore leg injuries. all received minor bruises. First aid was given by a Savanna physician and the party returned to Lanark. The car was towed to a Savanna garage.

Farm Bureau Nine Wins Twice In Week Action

Carroll County Farm Bureau team won two games last Thursday. At Schoen Field Lanark they beat Guy Bush Oilers 6 to 2 with Schaut pitching and Bashaw catching. Earlier in Galena they defeated Jo Davies County Farm Bureau nine 4 to 3 in ten innings. Battery was F Rahn and W Rahn.

Car Damaged In Collision Near Mt Carroll

Lee M. Gentry, field supervisor for the corn hog control association, escaped injury when a bread truck crashed into his car Tuesday afternoon on Route A0 a short distance southeast of Mt Carroll. The truck driver admitted fault and agreed to settle damages. no injuries were reported.

Chadwick Second Dagecus appears winner of the county league title race after the official schedule last week with a .857 percentage. Mt Carroll has quit the season, and Lanark forfeited a game, leaving Chadwick in second at .714 while Milledgeville and Thomson tie for third with ADS.

WPA Projects for Carroll County River Rockford Office

Hearing Held in County Court on Frederick Case

Maynard Frederick of MU Carroll appeared before Judge O M Grove in county court Monday for a hearing on a charge of selling a motor vehicle without a certificate. After arguments, Judge Greve took the case under advisement with a decision due September 2. Frederick remains in county jail pending another hearing on a separate charge.

In Carroll County this July there were 25 births and 16 deaths recorded. Dagecils won the county softball championship with iChadwick second. Thomson announced plans for Molon Day celebration on Thursday August 2. Forty three farmers signed new contracts last week, bringing total contracts to 911 for the year. A car crash near Mt Carrot Tuesday afternoon left no injuries reported. Thomson gitts won prize for grand champion calf at local Farmer’s Club picnic yesterday. Farm Berean team won two games last Thursday defeating Guy Bagh Oilers and Daviess Farm Berean at Galena. Wheat growers may plant 95 percent of base allotment under new rule. Poole to Speak at Mt Carroll Homecoming Parade

Jim Poole radio announcer and livestock reporter for the Chicago Livestock Exchange is booked as a speaker for Mt Carroll Homecoming's second day on Saturday August 24. He will speak likely arriving via the Savanns on the Zephyr and be met by committee members. County residents are expected to attend and may also hear him at Thomson's Melon Day on August 20.

Melon Day Plans Complete for Thomson Jamboree

Jim Poole the WLS livestock announcer will headline Thomson Melon Day evening events. Morning sports include foot races, horseshoe tournament, and softball games. Seven melon carvers start at 11 AM with thousands of melons for a free melee. Beth Hower's Band will perform at noon followed by the Girls Band in Chadwick, Lanark, and Forreston.
