York township residents went to the polls on August 16 and approved the Thomson public schools unit district 414 to 22. Precinct results were 262 to 19 in No 1 and 152 to 3 in No 2. A new seven member board will be elected.

Physical Examinations Set for Thomson Students
Thomson Public School students in kindergarten fifth and ninth grades along with transfer students and all grade school athletic boys will undergo physical examinations at the Savannah Medical Clinic on Thursday September 1. Any first graders who missed last year’s exam must also participate. The Thomson PTA sponsors the program and will provide bus transportation to the clinic.

Area Youths Win In Fair Contest
Lawrence Bruckner of Thomson FFA placed third in the calf scramble at Carroll County Fair. Ronald Atherton and Larry Weis also represented Thomson FFA in the event. Seven county youths caught calves, haltered them, and led them from the ring as part of the fair’s major attractions. Calves are awarded to the catchers to care for and show next year.

Charles L Wilcox 68 of Fulton a retired businessman and frequent Thom son visitor died Monday evening in Davenport Funeral services were held at Fay funeral home in Iton with Rev E J Blair officiating Burial was in Fulton cemetery He was born Feb 6 1898 in Fulton son of Joseph and Jeanette Logan Wilcox He married Mildred Bastian April 24 1918 in Clinton His career included Fulton Journal partner 1924 1945 owner of Home Appliance Store Fulton 1939 1965 and Fulton township supervisor for 11 years He belonged to Fulton City Lodge 189 A F and A M Moline Consistory and Tebala Shrine Surviving are his wife a daughter Mrs Roy Williams of Renton WA three grandchildren two brothers Joseph A Maywood and Leslie Chicago one sister Mrs 7 V Shatwell Sarasota FL He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers.

Thomson High Board Hires Cooks Instructors
At a regular meeting the Thomson High School Board approved a $6 rental fee on school instruments to cover repair costs. Repairs on an electric stove and stack ovens plus cafeteria pans were approved. Harold Witt hired head cook at 1655 dollars and Gilbert Holland as helper at 1550 dollars, with overtime rates of 1.50 per hour. Grimm's Dairy bid for school milk term accepted.
