Obituary notes the death of William Turner at age 83 from heart disease in his Argo Fa home. Turner lived in Argo for forty years, served as postmaster, worked in merchandising, and later farmed with his sons. World War veteran Eddie J Anderson formerly of Thomson who served as a gassed signal operator with the 123rd light field artillery during World War I has died at the Soldiers Home in Milwaukee at age 85. Born July 25 1893 in Gerlan Wisconsin he played catcher for local semi pro teams and worked for the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul railroad at Plaza nce station. Survived by Helen Wallerman his wife of 1918 and their son who predeceased him along with brothers and sisters including Alexander Anderson Otto Anderson Mrs Al Birch Mrs August Rhode and his mother. Funeral services were held in Beloit with burial at Clinton Junction Wisconsin.
Notice to dog owners prohibits dogs running at large in Thomson. All dogs must wear a sturdy muzzle from August 15, 1928 through October 15, 1925. Owners urged to keep dogs at home before the effective date. Also explains a correction about a Y C H S graduates article and apologies for omissions.
Mrs Dan Mitchell of Fort Collins Colorado visited in town Tuesday with her niece Mrs Heacard Murry of Dixon. She spent two months away, mostly with her parents in Canada, while Scotty runs a garage at Ft Lipton and handles Chrysler cars. Jeanie Mitchell, now 10, stays home for her father and brother Himward. Thomas Stace plans a short stay visiting nephew Clarence Stage in Hope Kansas. A cattle load was bought in Kansas City and split between Harry Gaar on the French farm and Albert Prins on the Stee place.
The Northwe dorm utilities and the Sassenbower company announce a new boiler house with electric machinery, automatic coal weighing, water fide Laity automate chain plate stokers and blowers. The installation will use concrete brick and steel and supersede old hand-fired boilers. Savanna Construction Company has been contracted to supply all materials except stokers and boiler.
The Ideal Farmers Club, after reporting 151 members for the year, announces a one day Agricultural Exhibit or Fair on September 15, 1928, at Ideal. Calf shows from the Ideal Calf Club, grain and handiwork exhibits, various sports, a ball game, and an evening band concert are planned to attract all interested in agricultural work.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs Clarence Bielema on Thursday. Mr and Mrs Levi Nuland visited Mrs Jane Peterkin in Galt Sunday and stayed at the Hoak home. Mrs Sadie Brown of Hollywood arrived Monday to visit her parents and other relatives. Mr and Mrs A D A were called to Cera Gorda for Mrs Wm Mathews illnesses and turned home Saturday. Mr and Mrs Samuel Patterser and daughter Wilma hosted guests. Peter Aggen and daughter June and Arthur Entwhistle with two children visited Harry Vogel in Fulton Monday evening. Joseph Lake of Flint, Michigan visited his sister Mrs Arthur Church from Thursday to Saturday, returning to Morrison. W A Adams of the Milwaukee railroad displays a gold medal for 25 years of service to the railroad, a note of local pride. Walter Love of Ashland, Oregon, who accompanied Heber Holland, accepted a position in a Savanna bar.
