Mest Manor open house draws 500 visitors in Savanna
More than 500 people toured Carroll County's Mest Manor on April 26 in Savanna during an open house for the new senior citizens home. George Mest 90 presided at the guest book as chairman of the Carroll County Housing Authority. Tour guides included Rudolph Amling Kenneth Senneff Jack Ferris and Elsie Center with Darius Krell absent. Coffee and cookies followed in the community room.

New District Forestry Office Opens in Mt Carroll
The state forestry service will open a new district office in Mt Carroll to serve Carroll Daviess Stephenson and Whiteside counties. Ralph Eads of Mt Carroll will lead the office located in the Acker building. Private woodland owners may contact the office for forestry assistance as six district offices statewide begin opening.
