Illinois Route Revisions Extend and Eliminate Surfaces
The plan consolidates routes by removing lettered suffixes and extending or relocating several Illinois routes. Key changes include replacing Illinois 79 with Illinois 35, extending 88 from Sterling to Mt. Carroll, eliminating 40 and creating a Peoria to Mt. Carroll continuum, and relocating 89 via 162 to LaMoille. It also grounds 71 through multiple overlaps, ends 84 as 2, and shifts 41 within Chicago along new pavement and bridge work.
