Cub Scout Carnival Promises Evening Of Fun And Games

Cub Scout Pack 52 hosts a Friday evening carnival in the Old School Gym with barbecued sandwiches pie coffee popcorn and a pop stand. Games include fish pond darts bean bag toss and bingo with prizes as boys and den mothers welcome guests and seek support.

Rhythm Rendezvous Jazz Concert Heard by Band Members

Twenty members of the Varsity band and their director Earle Mailand traveled to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb to hear the annual Rhythm Rendezvous Jazz Concert featuring big band selections from Siebert Basie and Riddle. A notice in Carroll County Illinois sets a hearing for the Annual Financial Report of the Savan na and York Drainage District on May 12 1967 at 10 a.m. in the Circuit Court.

Cedarettes 4-H Hold Monthly Meeting

The Cedarettes 4-H club opened with the president's call to order. Committee reports followed including a swimming party plan with YMCA access issues. A Job Corps offer was noted, recreation and refreshments were served, and members demonstrated table manners and place settings.

Son Jim Haas Reports Training At Lackland AFB

Mr and Mrs Myles Haas received a telephone call Tuesday evening from their son Jim Haas stationed at Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio Texas. Jim says he is enjoying his training at this time.

Red Cross Drive Goes Over Goal in Thomson

Mrs. Lawrence Weatherwax, Red Cross fund chair, reports Thomson exceeded its March drive goal by collecting 306.30 dollars against a 245.00 quota. She thanks contributors and lists solicitors including Katherine Huizenga, Clara Andring, Edna Hagg, Bernice Dimmick, Ida Hebeler, Mildred Brach, Mary Root, Myra Slovn, Thelma Dykstra, Dorothy Carroll, Jo Bissens, Edna Brown, Irene St. Ores, Dorothy Vian, Luvella Diehl, Eleanor Plumley, Beth Holland, and Glendora Schade.

Earle Mailand Heads Lions Club For 1967 68 Year

Earle Mailand has been elected to lead the Lions Club for 1967 68 with Rob Bristol as 1st vice president Bill Gengenbach as 2nd vice president Paul Daniels as 3rd vice president Harry Dittmar as secretary treasurer John Krahn as lion tamer and Max Meakins as tail twister. Directors are W Lloyd Olds Herman Hagg Merle Atherton and John Atherton. Outgoing president Herman Hagg. New officers assume office in July. The club recently donated 50 to the Thomson Fire Department to buy a rescuscitator for the ambulance.

Checkmates Attend Spring Fling Square Dance Jamboree

Eight members of the Checkmates square dancers traveled to LaCrosse Wisconsin for the Spring Fling jamboree. The group performed Friday evening and Saturday morning under instructor Mrs Fischer. Sick Mrs. Rinkie Latinga Recovers at Daughter Home

Mrs. Rinkie Latinga, who suffered a slight stroke a week ago Sunday, is recovering at her daughter Mrs. John Buikema's home after a stay at Jane Lamb Hospital from April 16 to April 18. Also, Mrs. Harmon Stakemiller of Mount Carroll is in Savanna Hospital with a broken leg, Miss Mae Eustes of Fulton was taken to Mercy Hospital Clinton, and Virgil MacDonald will enter Jane Lamb Hospital on Sunday for surgery.
