Miss Martha Ashby county superintendent conducted 8th grade exams at Consolidated School. Listed pupils from Sandridge Alta Parkhil York Center Ideal and local families. Supervisor and Village Treasurer reports appear this issue. Local business change and visitors from Sabula Miami and Florida noted. Fred Yates bought a Star coupe in Savanna.
Heavy snowfall left farmers a month behind typical schedules. Driving was unsafe as damp snow clung to windshields. The sun and wind on Sunday melted the accumulation quickly. Local social notes include visits, church program success, new members, and updates on residents such as Mrs. Hadley, Floyd Kness, Joe Sikkema’s basement, and Royal Neighbor hosting events.
John Acker of Savanna publicly thanks supporters for backing his bid for Representative. He pledges to work on Routes 78 and 80, asserting he will strive as hard as any individual to advance the road-building effort and expresses gratitude for voters generosity.
A packed Saturday night crowd enjoyed the grade school entertainment. Prof Hemmer praised the performance and the event netted about 35 dollars, likely to fund playground equipment or bolster the music fund. Attendees already expect another show when the teachers stage another success.
Robbins Bros Big 4 Ring Shows bring the world’s largest circus to Clinton with two mammoth pageants, 300 cast, three elephant herds, a hippopotamus from Africa, Count Cimmerjetta’s dancing horses, exotic acts, 200 wild animals, 400 horses, and 600 staff. Hundreds from the area plan to attend the Friday event and parade.
The Farmers Club meeting postponed due to weather will be held at the Ideal church on April 27. Road commissioners are fixing the Sandslough road and plan to reduce the grade where it meets the highway, making travel easier for cars in the future.
Robert J. Sherman arrives to direct the Marshall Players new season opening at the Auritorium Friday night April 25. Sherman wrote and produced hit plays including Spooks and will lead a high salaried company with a new tent theatre and electric equipment touring eastern Iowa.

Louie Schick was re elected as director of the High School Board at the annual election Saturday held at Village Hall from 2 to 4 PM. The vote was heavy for a school election with rumors of a dark horse candidate. Final count: Schick 102 votes Kusbes 15.
