Body of Sailor Adams Recovered After Feb 27 Loss
The body of Arthur D. Adams, 20, MMM 2c, was recovered after the Feb 27 collision near Hampton Roads. He enlisted in 1944 and served on the Goodhue liberty party boat. He is buried with full military honors in Portsmouth Virginia. He leaves Elver Adams of Clinton Iowa and Anna Adams the mother who died when he was 2. His surviving relatives include his father grandfather two sisters and a brother.

Soil Test Lab Reports Mixed Phosphate and Potash Results
Approximately 1590 soil tests were conducted at the Mt. Carroll lab since last fall. From 125 farms, 44 percent of phosphate samples were low, 27 percent slightly low, and 28 percent medium high. Potash readings: 21 percent under 150, 19 percent 150-200, and 57.6 percent 200-300 pounds per acre.

Mrs Elizabeth Shradeja aged 66 died at 3 30 am Tuesday in her Savanna home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 9 30 am Thursday at St John s Catholic Church Savanna with burial in St John s cemetery. Born November 17 1879 in Czechoslovakia she married Joseph Shradeja in 1898 and came to the United States in 1910 settling in Savanna. Surviving are two daughters four sons two grandsons a brother and a sister.

Counts of corn borers in Carroll county stalk fields show farmers may save a crop with a heavy pest outbreak. M P Roske, farm adviser, reports counts 50 to 100 percent higher than last year, with one Mt Carroll field averaging nine borers per stalk and county totals 250 to 3800 borers per 100 stalks.
