Krahn Olds Vows Exchanged In Evening Ceremony

Miss Kay Olds became Mrs Dale Krahn in a Thomson Methodist Church ceremony officiated by the Rev Thomas Mohn. The couple, both 1966 Thomson High School graduates, plan to live in Thomson with Krahn continuing work in the family business and studying Kendall College in Evanston.

FHA Host Parents Chose Dream Beau at Banquet

FHA students and parents attended the annual Parent- Daughter banquet on April 4. Dream Beau honors went to Roger Dykema. Miss Teresa Riter spoke. Grace Kurst and Mrs Ritter attended. A candlelight service, chicken supper by FFA under Mr Gengenbach, and a fashion show themed Its a Mad Mad World highlighted the event.

Terry Elliott Family Moves to Libby Montana

Mr and Mrs Terry Elliott and their three children Christopher Mark and Dawne visited relatives here after leaving Thomson. Terry earned a forestry degree at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and will work as a Forestry Technician for the Federal Government at Libby Montana commuting to the Raven Ranger District about 27 miles away.

Delta Kappa Gamma Peoria Convention Delegates

Seven members of Pi Chapter Illinois travel Friday April 7 to Peoria for the Lambda State Convention at Pere Marquette Hotel April 7 9. The international women educators group has about 4700 members in 75 charters in Illinois. State president is Ruth Schneider Farmer City and state executive secretary is Edna Weld Decatur. Harriet Byers and Lillian Hinders will attend.

Township Commissioner Race and Local Measures Result

In Township, 406 votes cast with incumbent George Hook 305 to Harold Witt 97 for highway commissioner. Mervin G. Marshall re-elected supervisor with 296. Write-ins include Witt, Hook, Nipe, Holland, Carroll, Lewis. Mental Health levy passes 227 to 149. Library trustees Mildred Brach 308 and Marian McKee 317.

MacDonald Named To Combined Job

Village Board in regular session with Acting President Paul Lewis. Virgil MacDonald submitted the sole bid of 500.00 per month and was accepted to serve as policeman and superintendent of waterworks sewage disposal plant and street commissioner. Election judges were appointed for April 18 by Acting President Lewis: Anita Shutters Maude Wagner Eleanor Plumley Hazel Fehler and Robert Lewis.

York Town Meeting Approves Budgets and Picks Cemetery Trustee

York township voters approved the road and bridge department budget and the town library budget at the Tuesday town meeting. Tax levies for the township and library were also approved. Gilbert Holland was chosen to replace Sylvia Witt as cemetery trustee after Witt declined to continue.

Thomson FFA Boys Win District Awards at Keowanee Meet

Thomson FFA members excel at the district meeting March 29 in Keowanee. John’s Soil and Water Management work on creek straightening, grass waterways, tissue and soil testing, waterways seeding, and flood gates gains district honors. Lawrence Bruckner named District I Star Farmer, while Thomson advances to state and national contests with Ronnie and John competing April 22 at the University of Illinois Mumford Hall.

Cub Scout Pack 52 March Meeting Highlights

The Cub Scout Pack 52 held a March gathering in the school cafeteria with flag ceremony songs and a welcome by Den 1. New scouts Kenny LaShelle and Gary Brown joined, den skits featured doctors, and boys displayed project work under the Handyman theme. Awards went to Greg Geertz and others for wolf bear and iron badges, den mothers received recognition, and an April round table was announced.

Hold Funeral Rites Sunday For Wayne M. Graharing

Wayne M. Graharing 61 a lifelong Thomson resident died March 21 in Savanna City hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday in the Fay-Seesser funeral home Fulton with Rev. Thomas Mohn officiating. Burial was in Lower York cemetery. Surviving are his wife a son William two sisters Mrs Faun Strubb and Mrs Robert Holland three nieces and other relatives. He was born August 12 1905 in Thomson and employed as custodian of the Thomson grade school for 26 years most recently at Clinton Job Corps Center.
